Gakuran Minigames & Interactables Guide
Nishikata Highschool isn't just a fighting arena — the developers have built out several skill-based minigames and social interactables. Everything below is sourced from the official Trello board's In-Game Features list.
The basketball court, with the emote wheel (Bow, Lean, Sit, Dance, Duo, and more) open — a separate system from the minigames below.
Basketball
Basketball is a full skill-based system built around shot timing, ball handling, and defense.
Shooting: hold F to start your shooting motion — a meter fills as you hold. Releasing F at the right moment determines shot quality:
- Bright Green — perfect release, guaranteed to score if unblocked
- Lime Green — slightly late, high chance to score
- Orange — late, lower chance to score
- Red — mistimed, guaranteed miss
A defender contesting your shot reduces its chance to go in — open shots are easiest, heavily contested shots are much harder, regardless of your release timing.
Dribbling: X for a between-the-legs move, Z+X for behind-the-back, C+X for an alternate behind-the-back move, and Backspace to drop the ball.
Defense: hold Right Mouse Button to enter a defensive stance and contest the ball handler's shots.
Playable Instruments
Instruments use rhythm-game mechanics — notes travel down lanes and you hit them on beat for a Perfect, Good, Okay, or Bad rating. Four instruments are available:
- Electric Guitar — two note lanes, played with F and J
- Bass Guitar — four note lanes
- Drums — four note lanes
- Piano — four note lanes
Instruments support synchronized group performances — anyone who joins a song in progress is automatically synced to the current point, so a full band (guitar, bass, drums, piano) can play together in time. Press G at any instrument to open its song list, sorted into Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme difficulty tiers. See the full Music Room Guide for how the song-select controls work and band-play tips.
The music room — piano, drums, and guitars all in one space, with the real key controls (G: Song List, #: Select Song, Space: Get Up) visible.
Chalk Board
The Chalkboard is a shared drawing surface. Equip a piece of chalk to draw, write, or sketch — multiple players can draw on the same board at once, each in a different chalk color, and drawings persist until erased with a Chalk Eraser.
Library & Books
The Library is on the second floor at the end of the left hallway. Books there aren't a single summary screen — they have real pages you flip through one at a time, with a full written text to read.
Other Interactables
The developers list a broader "Interactables" category on Trello beyond the systems above, though they haven't published further specifics yet. This page will be updated as more are confirmed.
