Gakuran Locations: Every Area in the Nishikata District
Gakuran is set in the Nishikata district of May 2007 Japan. The map includes the high school campus itself and a surrounding neighbourhood with shops, a gym, a club, and a convenience store — all explorable in a single server with up to 50 players.
The Nishikata district recreates a slice of 2007 Japan across its original nine locations.
School Campus
Nishikata Highschool
The main school building — the heart of Gakuran's roleplay and where most fights break out. The school's interior includes classrooms, hallways, and the iconic delinquent-culture atmosphere the game is built around. The game's description calls it "an INTENDED Slice of Life experience (though our community just loves to fight LOL)."
Courtyard
The outdoor area attached to the main school. The courtyard is a common spot for open PvP and group roleplay — its open space makes it easier to dash and reposition during fights than the tighter indoor hallways.
Basketball Court
A sports area within the school campus. The basketball is one of Gakuran's interactable objects — you can actually play basketball here, not just use it as a backdrop for fights.
The Neighbourhood
Kobayashi Ramen
A ramen restaurant in the Nishikata district. One of several neighbourhood spots where roleplay scenes often take place — sitting down for ramen at Kobayashi is a common move in the school-life fantasy the game enables.
Nishikata Coffee Shop
A café in the district. Like Kobayashi Ramen, it serves as a social hub for roleplay-focused players who prefer the school-life atmosphere over combat.
7-Eleven Gas Station
A convenience store modelled on the real Japanese 7-Eleven chain — a staple of 2007 Japanese street life and a faithful detail in Gakuran's period setting. A natural hangout spot for roleplay scenes in the neighbourhood.
Laundromat / Laundry
A laundromat in the neighbourhood. Laundromats are a classic slice-of-life setting in Japanese school dramas, and this one fits naturally into Gakuran's 2007 aesthetic.
Club Akuma
A hidden underground nightclub located behind the Gakumart store in the newer town area, with loud music and red lighting. Since update v8.200 (September 5), Club Akuma is also a workplace: it hires Bar Staff, Security and Musicians. If you can't find it, open the Maps app on your phone (added in v9.00), which shows every location and doubles as a minimap.
Nishikata Fitness Center
A gym in the district. A natural fit for the game's fighting culture — training montages are a staple of Japanese delinquent fiction, and Nishikata Fitness Center gives players a venue for that side of the roleplay.
New Areas Added Since August 2026
The map has roughly doubled since launch. These areas were added in updates from August to October 2026:
Gakumart
A store in the new town area added on August 1 (v2.679). You can work shifts here by applying through the in-game Indeed phone app, and it sells fireworks since the Holy Grail update. Club Akuma is hidden behind it.
Skate Park
Added with skateboards in v7.856 (August 9). Skateboard decks have their own rarity: 95% Common, 5% Unique.
Dante's Yakiniku
A yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) restaurant. It opened in v7.856 but only started serving food in v8.009, and since v8.200 it hires staff.
Karaoke Bar
Added in v8.009 (August 15). Pick a song at the television or the iPad on the table for 100¥.
Indoor Gymnasium
Added in v8.103 (August 22) and enlarged by 25% in v8.200. It hosts 3v3 or 5v5 basketball and 6v6 volleyball (first team to 18 points wins).
NyanMelo Cafe
A maid café added in v9.00 (September 19).
Soccer Stadium
Added in the Holy Grail update (v10.00, October 3) for full soccer matches with teams, NPC players and a goalkeeper mode.
Rooftop Gardens & Clubrooms
The school now has arcade, chess, Biology, Calligraphy, Astronomy and Gardening clubs. The Gardening club lets you claim a rooftop bed and grow plants in real time.
Interactable Objects
Several objects across the map can be interacted with directly:
- Basketball — playable at the Basketball Court
- Chalk Board — interactive chalkboard in the school
- Books — readable books in the school
- Playable Instruments — musical instruments that can actually be played
